Why should a person be evaluated for a merit-based position by their race or gender? Should we choose someone of a minority race for a position of responsibility if they are not the best suited for the job simply BECAUSE they are of a minority group?
Example 1: voting for President Obama because he is black = bad
voting for President Obama because he will be a good President = good
Example 2: saying "too few women on the board of this company" (only because of gender) = bad
saying "too few women on the board of this company" (because they are more suited for the job) = good
